What you need to know about MUSAB Cameroon


About


MUSAB is a non-profitable charity islamic organisation based in Bamenda, managed by both muslims and non-muslims. It aims at helping Widows, Orphans, Vulnerable Children and people living with HIV/AIDS; most especially in the rural communities of Baba 1, Babessi, Bali, Batibo, Wum, Nsongwa, Chomba, Mbatu, Nkar, Mankon Rural and Muslim community of Old Town Bamenda, North West Region of Cameroon.

MUSAB is an inclusive organization which is dedicated to ensuring a better world for children and disadvantaged people. This organization believes in the right of universal access to treatment for HIV/AIDS and it actively supports the reduction of stigmatization and prejudice against Orphans and Vulnerable Children (OVCs), and Widows. MUSAB is keen to educate children about the importance of environmental protection and climate change, works in collaboration with several partners such as VSO, UNICEF, CARE Cameroon, WAMY, and Related Ministries such as The Ministry of Social Affairs, The Ministry of Public Health, The Ministry of Basic Education, The Ministry of Secondary Education and The Ministry of Youth Affairs and Civic Education. MUSAB also go a long way to collaborate with The Ministry of Empowerment and the Family, Prisons, Councils and many more.

Achievements


Since creation, MUSAB has reached out to:

  • over 965 orphans and vulnerable children
  • 56 families received interest-free loans to set up their micro-businesses to give care and support to Orphans and Vulnerable Children (OVCs).
  • 400 Orphans and Vulnerable Children provided with Birth Certificates
  • 340 people have had free screening and testing for HIV.
  • 1342 people trained on Advocacy skills (HIV/ Widowhood Rites).
  • 20 people living with HIV received Nat. ID. Cards
  • 23 Kings and 10 Civil Society Organisations attended a King’s conference.
  • 31 OVC’s currently undergoing vocational training in mechanics and tailoring. 15 self-sustaining
  • 84 mass marriages organized

There are many Muslim charity organizations working around the world to help those in need. These organizations are dedicated to alleviating poverty and suffering and are making a real impact in the lives of people around the world. MUSAB Cameroon is not left out as we continuously and unanimously make conscious efforts towards taking care of the poor, needy and underpriviledged around us.

Vision, Mission & Values


MUSAB's vision is to become an exemplary leading organization at promoting self- Awareness, Education, Health and the Socio-Economic development of disadvantaged persons in Cameroon.

MUSAB's mission is to encourage, facilitate, and enable disadvantaged persons improve their wellbeing.

MUSAB's values include Cooperation (Q103:1-3), Obedience to constituted Authority (Q4:59), Justice (Q4:135), Assisting disadvantage people (Q2:245), and God consciousness (Q2:177).

Other Achievements


MUSAB has also involved with:
06 agreements signed with Kingdoms to ban or improve on Widowhood Rites to protect the orphans, 06 workshops involving 3000 people on widowhood Rites organised, 60 orphans and children of positive mothers received 2 tablets of soap each, 05 cartons of surgical materials donated to Baba 1 Integrated Health Centre to, assist orphans and vulnerable children and widows, 100 orphans and children of Positive Mothers had their hair shaved with a tablet of Soap to take home as preparation for back to school thus, prospering hygiene and sanitation, 20 Positive pregnant women received delivery materials, 50 Primary Schools, Health Centres, Traditional and Religious Groups, have been sensitised across the region on the treatment of portable water and prevention of diseases, Creating environmental and climate change awareness with orphans and vulnerable children.

Future Activities


MUSAB is increasingly active in the fields of HIV/AIDS, Human Rights, Climate change, Widows’ Empowerment, Sustainable livelihoods, and Child Protection. We will focus on: Construction of an orphanage and an educational institution, Construction of an incubation centre, Setup income generating activities for sustainability, Working with people who experience disability, Developing advocacy services, Working closely with NAPC (Network of Association for the Protection of the Child) to prevent child abuse and child trafficking with other related partners.
We will also continue with HIV/AIDS activities through collaboration with Aid Agencies such as VSO, CRS, UNICEF, RTG, Care Cameroon Councils and related ministries etc. Learning, practicing and teaching about environmental protection and climate control, Working to prevent MTCT.

MUSAB works in partnership with Voluntary Service Overseas, care Cameroon, UNICEF, WAMY (World Assembly of Muslim youths). ADF (African Development Foundation) and Islamic Complex Yaoundé and related Ministries, Councils and Associations.
